Westerparc
A key feature of the district Westwijk in Vlaardingen is the abundance of mature green. There are many green strips and parks with tall trees. The residential buildings are simple. The architecture is light and spacious.
The current situation is a series of three stamps with a lot of greenery between the apartment blocks. In line with the streets the space between the flats is completely paved. In our proposed plan this situation is reversed. Following on from the residential streets the space between the blocks is a pedestrian, green area, which provides access to the adjacent park.
The program consists of 90 apartments and 30 single-family homes, gardens for seven single-family houses and an indoor parking at ground level, which is equally divided over the three stamps. The stamps represent the underlying low-rise neighbourhood on the Marnixlaan in the district Westwijk. The parcel out of this site is quite complex. The plot is too shallow for a standard block size. The view of the park is opposite to the north side. And the building has to have four main facades.
