Kwadrant Q4
Q4 is in a transition area between business location and an existing residential area of Badhoevedorp with major differences in scale. This calls for a multifunctional design. We designed a sustainable, differentiated residential area, combined with the ability to work. It consists of 30 single-family homes, 24 apartments for starter and 21 apartments for sale and 3 studios situated as pavilion near the water.
To have this differentiation, combined with workspace and greenery, at a small plot with exploitation of the qualities of the site, we chose a spatial concept with its own identity. Like a "Lusthof” with its private courtyards in the vastness of the polder, we created a secluded spot with a nice scale and a clear structure that fits the surroundings.
The key elements in this plan are the "green rooms", public outdoor spaces for residents to stay and play. The green edges of the district fits in the urban plan with its central green / water area and green belts. A slow Corridor connects the green edges and rooms.
Most homes have views to the open green rooms. Orientation and insolation of the homes in east-west direction contribute to the living quality. We also designed the parking places and roads as compact as possible which support the quiet atmosphere of the residential. High quality materials and timeless architecture contribute to sustainable urban design. Furthermore, there are some implementations to create a sustainability area.
